more than conquerors
A couple of days ago, a couple brothers and I decided to do an impromptu Bible study on Romans 8, one of my more favorite chapters. Honestly speaking, every single verse has so much truth and power in them that it took me a while to really digest it as a whole. While I was reading this passage, I was reminded of a sermon by Dave Gibbon, who was talking about his time of witnessing at a campus in Mexico. He talked about the fearlessness the Holy Spirit inspired him of as he was sharing the gospel to the students. It may just seem like any other witnessing meeting, but as he began to mention all those specific encounters, I began to witness another light shinning of witnessing: how we are more than conquerors.
These days, I realized that most Christians are overly concentrated on the fact that they are sinners, they forget to realize that we are saints, guided by our Heavenly Father, command by the truth of the Bible through Jesus, and victorious by the Holy Spirit. Brothers and Sisters, we are all “heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him”. (Rom 8:17) I mean of course we are all sinners, and of course we need to repent, but can’t you see that we have the God almighty with us to do greater things in his name?!
The Holy Spirit, in greek is παράκλητος (Pneuma) which is translated into Comforter or Helper. We have the Holy Spirit, who not only intercedes for us constantly, but who is there to help us through our sufferings and trials. Sometimes, it amazes me when I go witnessing to see the things that come out of my mouth because those words spoken aren’t something I conjure up or imagined; it is not of mine, but I am only a mouthpiece that could be used by God to introduce the gospel into the hearts of those I approach. The Holy Spirit is our helper in those times, we are the one who initiates, he is the one who works.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us”. (Rom 8:37) Yes! We are more than conquerors! See to it brothers and sisters that you could work great and impossible things out in your life! It is just a matter of working out your faith in Christ, trusting him in all situations that you could be used by him to bring the name of Jesus the fame it deserves! Don’t live life on the safe end, trying to be as quite as you could be, but be LOUD with your faith! Be EXPLOSIVE! Stir a RIOT as Tedashii would put it. I love how Francis Chan uses the Balance Beam example, and if you haven’t seen it, go watch it! Its on youtube. Let us be risk takers and people of courage! The Bible does say that we will suffer and will be hated, but thats such a small price to sacrifice for our King who bought us out of darkness by his blood.
Be the change in your campuses, in your workplaces, in your homes! You yourself are the revival in these places!
